Hair transplantation with MicroPlus®
Patient story
Tom Sellberg
In
November 2003 Tom received a transplant containing 3255 hairs,
divided between the hairline and crown.
His treatment got a lot of attention, thanks to publicity in a
Swedish news magazine.
We have his permission to share his story about how he discovered
us and his treatment, as well as his “before” and “after” pictures.
You can read Tom’s own story below, to look at his picture just

“If you’re scared to go to the dentist, you’re ready to faint at
the thought of a hair transplant.
However, at my first consultation with European Clinic, my fear of
doctors and their sterile environment disappeared. When you arrive
at the reception, you’re met with a very pleasant environment
that’s just as nice in reality as on their website. Snacks,
magazines, comfortable sofas and calm colours, make you feel
relaxed.
Informative and objective
The consultation itself was informative and objective and the
personnel describe the surgery in a way you understand.
The operation day started with a conversation with the doctors,
with no stress or pressure. I was greeted by everyone who was
going to participate in the operation and was offered sandwiches
and coffee.
Before the operation started, we went through where the hairline
should go. When you’ve got thin hair you almost wish your hairline
would come down to your eyebrows.
To the operating room....
When the hairline was drawn out we moved on to the operating room.
Before the operation, I and my moral supporter, who was with me,
were offered some more snacks. After that it was time to choose
which film should be shown in the operating room and, out of
respect for the personnel, I didn’t choose “Gladiator”…
Two parts
The operation can be divided into two parts. In the first part the
doctor takes away a bit of skin where the hair follicles are. I
was anxious about how it would feel. It’s nothing to worry about
because you don’t feel anything. But you hear it. Luckily you have
your hands free to cover your ears.
When the first part was done, the holes where the hair follicles
will be placed are made. This is made with a special tool that is
pushed down to a pre-determined depth. The sound can be compared
with the sound of sticking a nail in a banana. During this time I
was asked if I wanted something to eat or drink.
The personnel were very respectful when the hair follicles were
put in place. I was asked how it felt, if more anaesthetic was
needed, if I wanted to change position etc.
It will grow!
When my 3000 hair follicles were in place and everything was over,
we got back to the room where we drew the hairline. It was a
surprise to look in the mirror! I could really see that hair was
going to grow here!
A little dazed and tired, I went home to recover. I was informed
about possible swelling due to a liquid that is injected and
raises the skin during the operation. No shocking bandage is
needed. It worked fine with a cap that I got at the clinic.
Back at work
After a day away, I was back on the job again. This was, of course,
excellent but, since I work as a salesman, I needed the cap. I
suppose I followed the after-treatment instructions because I
haven’t experienced any complications. The only reminder of the
operation is a little scar on the scalp, which doesn’t show.
When it was time to remove the stitches at the local care centre,
they were very impressed. It was good to hear and really sums up
my whole experience concerning my hair transplant.
A good piece of craftsmanship!
