Hair transplantation with MicroPlus®
Background
Why does one lose hair?
Everyone is born with a given number of hair follicles that,
unfortunately, don’t have the capability to reproduce. Our hair
develops and then increases in diameter from childhood until
adulthood. But, regardless of our lifestyle, what we eat or how many
vitamins we take, we can never increase the number of hair follicles!
By puberty, one usually has a low hairline that shrinks towards the
optimal form and is stabilized by 20-22 years of age.
For people with genetic conditions that cause hair loss, the
hairline continues to shrink and reduce. Serious illness, bad eating
habits and vitamin deficiency accelerate the process. Many healthy
people can lose hair faster than others anyway due to Androgenetic
Alopeci, better known as baldness.
Only in recent years has our knowledge of genetic and hormone
chemistry grown to make us understand the real causes why so many
lose hair. Androgenetic Alopeci changes the hair follicle’s
capability to produce hair. The hair follicle’s power decreases and
thinner, shorter hair and weaker shaft follows, until it only
produces fine, almost invisible hair. After that the hair follicle
dies completely.
Androgenetic alopeci needs three conditions to arise:

Genetic conditions for baldness |

Male hormones in adequate quantity |

What can one do to get lost hair back?
For many years hair has been transplanted from the back of the
head (donation area) by punching out round weaving pieces with
hair follicles. The method is called Punch-Graft and the grafts
are placed on the crown where the hair is missing. The method
works, but a transplantation made like this makes the hair grow
in spots and also looks artificial and unnatural.
The Punch-Graft method has, however, proved to be something
important in hair surgery:
Transplanted hair really grows in its new place!
MicroPlus®
In 1991 the MicroPlus method -
or “single hair replacement method” - was introduced. This
innovative method signified that it was possible to transplant
one hair strand at a time instead of punching out grafts. With
this method it became possible to successfully re-create a
natural hairline.
The new technique gave many men and women hope for a natural
result, with fresh and beautiful hair. Those who earlier had
Punch-Grafts and weren’t pleased could also get them repaired.
At the European Clinic we work with the Micro-Plus method, but
we also have made certain improvements both to technique and
instruments. Improvements that give you more secure treatment
and a better result!
• You don’t need to spend the night at the clinic.
• You don’t have to pay extra for keeping your hair’s length
around the transplant area
• You don’t need a bandage around your head after treatment.
You’ll just get a nice cap!
